Welcome to Longwood First School. Our school is located in the east of the Island of St Helena close to Longwood House (right), famous as the final residence of Napoleon Bonaparte.

The present building was erected in 1942 and was used as an Officers' Mess during the Second World War. In 1949 it was opened and used as a primary school. In 1958 four additional classrooms were built behind the original building. In 1977 an extension was made to the original building.

In 1988 the school was involved in the change-over from the two-tier to the three-tier system of education and was renamed Longwood First School which catered for children from Nursery to Year 3. September 2000 saw the change in the ages of transfer. Longwood First School now caters for children from Nursery to Year 2.

Please take some time to browse around our site and meet some of the staff and students.
