- To provide an environment where
each child can reach his or her
maximum potential.
- The inclusion of the child within
the main school curriculum wherever
possible.
- To enable each child to relate to
others, to be stimulated by and to
develop alongside other children
within both the learning Support and
mainstream school environments.
- Provide opportunities to access a
curriculum that:
- provides full quality of life
- is relevant to their individual,
social and educational needs
- enables experiences and
development within the guidelines of
the National Curriculum
- provides an environment to promote
the development of literacy and
numeracy as defined in the National
Literacy and Numeracy Strategies
- enables development within an
environment which promotes
sharing, group learning and an
understanding of society
- provides opportunity to access
inclusive education which is
individual, appropriate and
supported with adequate resources
- is flexible in approach
- is progressive and builds upon
achievements and experience
It is also hoped that these aims will
allow mainstream school children to
develop an understanding of the
difficulties and needs of other
children.
To achieve the Centre's aims each
child has an Individual Educational Plan
based upon an objective approach to
teaching. The individual needs of
the child are assessed and the
objectives noted for the next stage of
development. The Individual
Educational Plans are regularly updated
as the child progresses. It is
generally accepted that most children
will be working in a foundation bridging
to the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
